Pump top changed and would not fit my car, after I had paid. No warning
Greetings all, just a little bit of opinion sharing for the evening. Many may have noticed the new Shell service station in Alexander Rd in Morwell. Many like myself may have been tempted by the cheaper fuel prices, and for me it had the added convenience of being on my way home. But twice now I have been inconvenienced by paying my money and not getting any fuel. The first time it was 45 minutes before I was able to get fuel, at another fuel station as they couldn't refund my money for 2-3 days and couldn't guarantee it wouldn't happen again on another pump as they had no idea why it had faulted in the first place. Although I asked for a follow up email with some explanation so I could hopefully avoid the problem again, I heard nothing back.Today it happened again and after 15 minutes, and two calls to get some answers I left the station pissed off. A couple of Km's down the road heading to get fuel elsewhere, I finally had a follow up call. To cut a long story short, it turns out, according to Craig, the owner of the company, that it was my fault. I had initially and accidentally started to remove the wrong hose. Quickly realising my mistake I put it back and grabbed the correct one. This was what caused the issue. The pump would no longer deliver any fuel and it would again be another 2 to 3 days before I get my money back. When I asked why they didn't modify the software so this could be corrected remotely or even have some sort of warnings this could happen, especially when he admitted it was a common occurrence, he said he wasn't prepared to spend any money on it. He just didn't think it worth while. This now has me contemplating just what the cost of saving a few cents a litre of fuel means. Firstly, it means the owners of the business can hide in obscurity.Secondly, there is no one on hand to actually assist if there is an issue, that is, people are excluded from being employed.Thirdly, we disempower ourselves by aiding in the removal of a human factor in the transaction.Lesson learned?I will now gladly pay the few cents a litre more to ensure people are employed, so that the human factor remains in the transaction.#Shellalexandersroad #noservice #dontshophere
